I would have reblogged it but couldn't find the button Brad:)
Brad, I have been to at least 2 ARU classes and always leave with some great new ideas to implement. Thanks for all your hard work.
I have just started really taking AR seriously and now I am totally addicted. Can't wait to add the ARU classes to the mix. Thanks for helping improve the professionalism in the industry!
Steve - thanks. You can't reblog a reblogged post, but you CAN reblog the original. There's a link in my commentary above the calendar, you can also click on the: Via ActiveRain University (ActiveRain University):(link) In the reblogged post, and it will take you directly to the original. I Appreciate the help getting the word out there, we work really hard at putting all this all together and want to make sure everyone knows about it, so thank you!! :-)
Hi Brad,
I'll reblog the original post...I've attended many sessions and found them extremely helpful and well presented. I've also passed on the info to newer members whenever I felt they would find the sessions useful....
Jo
Thanks for sharing the calendar... I may just have time to attend some of the classes. I am excited!
I "liked" it so it will go out to my Facebook peeps...are these sessions recorded and archived? I signed up for this week's class and then an unexpected situation came up and I missed it. I don't see on the calendar items, nor do I think I got an email after the fact - announcing the recording was available...Would love to still be able to get the info! Thanks for all you do :-)
I will bookmark this post, thanks a lot Brad! I need to take advantage of some of this training.
Why woulfd we train here? Because you're Mister Wizard.
Christine - I'm so glad you asked that, I get asked that at least 20+ times a day.
"... are these sessions recorded and archived?"
Here's my thought on it. We do record these classes for possible future use. They are an hour long, and hosting options are limited, not to mention all the variable media playback challenges we could run into. IE: Operating systems, browser types and versions, media players and apps like Windows Media Player, Quicktime etc. It could turn into a technical support catastrophe. I'd rather spend the time setting up and focusing on putting on these classes. We will also do "repeat classes" of the more popular and "in demand" classes.
There's also the thought from some members here that if we did make recordings available and known to folks, then no one would attend the class, and share the synergy and "rainergy!" Also, getting great speakers and presenters to come and teach/share to empty seats wouldn't be very motivational for either the student or the teacher. Now I also understand that business and personal schedules can and do affect and conflict with some of these classes, but they are FREE, valuable, and worth trying to attend. One only needs Internet Access.
I keep thinking maybe that's why Harvard and Stanford don't make their classes available via a recording, or at least not for FREE. :)
One thought is that when we have a class where there is a large demand for a recorded session, maybe we could create a "LINK" on the original Blog post where we're introducing the speaker and the class. (with the speaker/teachers approval of course) Adding it to the post at some later point may be a good option. (provided the recording would work for everyone) I know some of you are thinking we could also charge for them, and though it's not out of the question, the fact remains: I want ARU to stay a free and valuable service where people can "virtually" come, training and education can be had, shared, and most of all, beneficial to all those who attend.
The jury is still out on this one, but just know that not an hour passes in the day where this isn't thought about and discussed with others.
At least now I have a link to a comment that explains this, and I can send to those who ask in the future. This may start a great thread of conversation that helps me determine the best route to go! So thanks for asking, you ROCK!! :-))
BTW - This is what Blogging is all about! It's what helps us and others to make creative and productive business decisions.
Thanks Brad, I attend the classes and will be happy to reblog the original
Brad - thanks for the answer! Glad I could inspire you to create a permanent link and save your "voice"...umm...fingers...from repetition! I have to admit...a tad disappointed in the answer though. One thought, which might make replays a tad more appetizing to the speakers though, is to send out a link after people have registered...perhaps after the call...only to those who have registered...maybe making the call only available for 24 hours even...that way we get to benefit even if life or a deal interferes, within a very reasonable amount of time...and the speaker would still have the registration info of the person signing up for their own marketing efforts later???? Just thinking out loud...
Christine - I love it when you think out loud!!
The purpose of these classes is not for marketing later, many of our speakers, trainers, and even members have nothing to offer for marketing, they are simply "paying it forward" and giving back to the community and industry in areas they have been successful.
I like the idea of a 24 hour recording available, but it takes that long to render the recording, create a link on a server somewhere or upload it to a hosting server, then set it up for a 24 hour playback. All that only to have it be removed? I think I like the idea of having a link permanently placed in the Blog post (or a playback video player) so that all the above efforts I mentioned would be worth it.
Maybe just do this with the classes that we don't anticipate would ever be repeated? Hmmm... See, you really got me thinking now, thanks Christine, and thanks for responding back. <wink, smile!> :-))
Brad ... I did the SEO blogging class this week and it was INVALUABLE! Steven talked about what 90% of us don't do ... it worked! Thanks for AR University!
Brad - OK, fine...I will concede defeat, even though I confess to being a spoiled tech gal that thinks whatever she wants should be available to her wherever and whenever she thinks she has a moment to take some peace for herself and absorb knowledge! LOL You were a worth opponent ;-) But yeah...I think I could live with the post option...as long as we know where to go to find it...it's on us not to get "complacent" and not wait for the knowledge to come to us, but instead to seek it out!!!
Christine - I really like you! :-) No defeat to concede here, rather a great testimonial as to the power of Blogging, sharing ideas, and the awesomeness of ActiveRain members. As I said, the jury is still out, and the most important thing right now is that you'll still have a safe and valuable place to come, learn, grow, and prosper regardless of the direction we take with recording and providing these sessions.
Thanks for playing, I'll be here all week! :-))
Brad, I have also missed a great class due to schedule conflicts, but I have to agree with you that the live factor with the dynamics is pretty exciting and definitely keeps me thinking. The last class with Katrina Benton was the BEST webinar I think I have ever attended. The popular ones should be repeated, and when you're ad nauseum with the topic, then maybe is the time to put it on recording just so you don't have to say the same things again and again and again... Will definitely reblog the original post :)
Any chance on getting these recorded for 24x7 playback?
Brad:
I have only attended one so far but I was impressed, and came away with some good ideas to implement. I wll definitely do more. The recording thing IS a challenge, especially for free webinars. Perhaps they can be made available ONYl to those who preregister cannot attend.
Jeff
These are great classes and the best part is they are FREE... I attend as many as possible. Wish I could make many more...
I am still somewhat of a Newbie to AR and have attended a few classes. If we schedule it in and hold to it like any other appointment all the members will benefit from such a great assortment of classes.
Brad, if only I had time to do a few more of these sessions. Too bad we don't have recordings I could play at night.
Hi Brad,
Wow...Yes what a great asset !!!!!!!!!!!
I send out classes to others via email (my circle of influence)
Thanks so much.
Robert
Thanks everyone, today's class with Stefan Swanepoel is going to be awesome and I'm very excited to have him as our guest. It's at 10:00 am PDT. I just got a confirmation from two other special guests that I'm excited will be including ARU on their tour schedule this next month. Can't wait to post more about that later. CYA all in a few hours in class. Hope everyone enjoys it!! Thanks. :-))
Thanks Brad. Would love to take some of the classes but am already committed on Tues and Thurs mornings. I'm hoping to catch some of the afternoon ones.
Brad, I've taken several of the classes and loved them. I'm signing up for todays since my noon appointment cancelled!
Brad,
The classes are awesome! One idea is to have 2 options for the "big" speakers. Maybe a morning and an afternoon option. I have to cancel today because of a conflict. 1:00 p.m. est on a Friday is a busy time of day but 9:00 a.m. is not. Just a thought. I hate to miss anything :)
Betsy
The evolution of Activerain is quite remarkable. Thanks for the tips and the info.
Hey Brad,
As a speaker at the University on multiple occasions, I must admit I really enjoy the members here & being able to share info with them. I look forward to some more opportunities here in the near future!
Thinking outside the box Brad, maybe we should try an evening class sometime. I am game for teaching something in the PrimeTime! Since many are busy during the day with clients, maybe if we did like a Tuesday Evening it would work better for those. You know me, I am up anyways till late into the evening normally so no biggie to me :)
I love being able to print the calendar. Thanks for all you do.. Loved Rain Camp LA. ~ JC
Setting up some night or weekend classes might not be a bad idea. Let me check with my family manager (my wife) and see what we can work out! Both my agents (my kids) will need to approve as well. lol~ :-))
Brad - thanks for the updates on classes - you guys really rock, all that you do for the community!
Thanks Barbara-Jo, I WE really appreciate that. :-)
H Brad, I love these classes and hope that you will continue with the great mix of subject material. Looking forward to attending many more of these. You also do a great job in coordinating the efforts.
William, thanks so much, your comment means a lot to me. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend my friend. :-)
I've never taken an ARUniversity class that I didn't get something out of. I've been repeating some of them as it's hard to grasp everything the first time around. They cover a lot of great information.
Brad - This is not working! Why is it so hard to find the webinar calender?
Hi Lisa - this account and University is no longer under my direction, I transferred it over to ActiveRain. The calendar for training that I run is located at http://zillowacademy.com. The calendar for ARU can now be found here:
