ActiveRain has done it again! We've added yet another feature to enhance the AR Community. Members now have the option of posting Listings!

Here's how:
1. Go to http://activerain.com/action/listings and click New Listing
2. Upload photos, enter the address, description and stats
3. Click Save Listing
4. Click Activate

I'm sure you're thinking to yourself, "It can't be that easy can it?" Yes, my friends it is.
A few clarifications:
You may have up to 20 listings at any time. Each listing will be active for 30 days. This is to keep any stale information from being displayed. If you make any changes to the listing, update the price, add a picture etc. the 30 days will reactivate from that day.
Each listing may have up to 20 photos. Photos must be 960x440 at a minimum. We encourage you to take the pictures from your digital camera to optimize clarity.
One of the following browsers must be used to post listings: Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer 8.
Listings will appear on the new Community Pages and as an added bonus of RainMaker status your listings will appear on the sidebar of your blog.
I hope everyone takes advantage of this new feature!
Let it Rain!

Kerrie - great news! Is this going to impact our ability to post listings to regular blogs as well?
Thanks.
HMMMM. Is ActiveRain making the move from agent facing to consumer facing....?
That's great. another excellent service from Active Rain.
My clients and I will definitely use this feature! Thanks for adding it. How will it be disseminated in the Internet?
LOVE IT!
Kerrie,
We like...now just to find the time to upload them all! Another reason to pull consumers here...and for those agents that don't join...their loss and our gain! Woo hoo!
Thanks!
BLiz
Kerrie, this is great! On the "to do" for this afternoon!
That is really good news....we have been hearing it was coming for two years....great to see it is here.
Good morning, Kerrie. Does this apply to listings already blogged or just brand new listings? Regardless, this is a great feature. Thanks!
SWEET!
I love the idea, but do wonder, like the first comment from Jose, if this will affect our ability to post listings to our regular blog roll. Also:
I am not complaining, it just seems there are some stipulations that may not work for agents.
How cool, Kerrie. If you click the link you get a user with the user name listing - I think you are missing the "action" in the url :)
For starters, if I have 172 listings, hard to Titanic life boat, decide which ones stay or go. Can't we piggy back and do more for the 193,000 members that do none? The image size...realtor.com standard is 512x400 same as our Maine mls. Using a standard not a who new 960x440 min makes a lot more work. Especially because we are not going to blow up the smaller size we have and total reshoot of a property. The larger pictures load slower even when optimized for speed. Think the side arm realty listing cookie jar is a great idea. Just need an industry standard like beta, vhs to run with saving everyone time, achieving same result. Tried twice to load and would not activate...hmmm (digging out wrenches, blow torch, jack hammer)
Just saw this and am printing my listing list to get them input right now! Love it! Thanks!
I think the word AWESOME comes to mind.
Kerri....
HORRAY!!! I can't wait to get my listings online. I just need to get enough strength and time to do this. I'm in the hospital/nursing home...rehabing a total hip replacement at the moment. Never a dull moment here..
Here this news has made my day. Thank you.
We need to find a way to get listings fed to Activerain. If Zillow can do it, then Activerain should be able to figure out how to do it.
As a high-volume listing broker, I don't want to do double data entry.
Tom
Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth @ #15.
The link is to someone from Nevada... are we being punk'd? :)
---It's working now, Kerrie. Again, it's a great feature! Thank you, again!
Hmm. I have to agree with some of the comments that the photos should be standardized for a wider range of allowable sizing but otherwise I'm PSYCHED! My lone little solo listing will be up today and hopefully will have friends very soon!
Jo - Thanks doll!
I am assuming that only RainMaker Accounts will allow you to do this? Just wondering.... Thanks, Looks great!
Very cool... I just input one... what a nice new feature... I'm assuming that these listings will be nicely crawlable by google spiders... that should ROCK!
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/20
Sorry... I wasn't logged in.... :-)
I am assuming that only RainMaker Accounts will allow you to do this? Just wondering.... Thanks, Looks great!
There should be a clear rule that you cannot post listings that are not your listings. Trulia has had some real problems with this.
Tom
I'm hoping this isn't something you'll start charging for in the future, or some kind of tiered thing.
Kerrie - Very Cool indeed... gotta go and do some.... Thanks again all you guys/girls... :-)
Define "Your" Tom, as in your listing? I only ask because with most states, the listing is NEVER the agent's, but the brokerage. If you can only post your listings, it would be very, very small. Semantics, I know, but defining "yours" is difficult.
Great idea, I guess I need to do a batch resizing of all our listing photos to get this done! Ugh, more work! Thanks AR!
Brilliant Kerrie, thanks very much for this info. It's definitely going to be a popular feature.
I'll take it! How cool is that to widen your exposure! Thanks!
Jane Pacheco
Sounds like a great feature! Thank you. Can't wait to try it!
Would also be nice if the listing auto-posted to our blog as a post when we put it in or re-activate...
Question I started to put one in based on the address it offers to let me list it in Columbus, in Columbus neighborhoods.
Address is Columbus Ohio 43235
This listing will be displayed in: Columbus, OH and Franklin County, OH. Community:
None on the list match. The neighborhood for this property is in Worthington. Will a listing NOT go on a community page if I leave it None?
Great idea! Now, will there be an additional cost to use this service?
I'll have to get on this!
Thank You, you make it better and better to be on Active Rain. You are appreciated!
hmmm... i keep entering my listing price $129,900, click save and it takes me back to the price and won't let me save it... i know that's what i listed the home for... $129,900
Woo-hoo! I'm getting cracking!
Love this place! I have two new listings today that I am working on that should fit in nicely.
This is great I was waiting for this feature for quite some time. Thank you AR
Kerrie - Question... I noticed I cannot activate listings unless I put in square footage. We in NJ generally don't do sq ft in houses here, only in condo's and townhomes... I cannot just put in 0 either... Any suggestions? Thanks
QUESTION: does this also allow you to post the listing to your own blog at the same time? Or must one also create a seperate blog article? I am about to enter a new listing so let me know ASAP! Thanks again.
Roger #30,
By "your listings" I mean listings that are your personal listings (taken by you as an agent of the brokerage and have your MLS ID in the MLS). Too many times my listings are taken and posted on Craigslist and other sites. This is a violation of our local MLS rules and since they take my photos, they are violating my Copyright. Note that AR is not an IDX compliant website when it comes to listings.
Tom
PS - Our MLS allows me to give other agents written permission to advertise my listings not that I've ever allowed it.
Great feature. Thanks for your ever forward thinking AR!
I'm curious to see how these listings will ultimately be brought to consumers' eyes. Great idea. I like it a lot.
Sounds interesting. I have some of the same questions that a few folks above have asked, but I'll have to try it.
Awesome! This is so cool!!!!
The first ten people to leave a comment on this blog post with a link to their new listing with at least 2 pictures will receive 1,000 points. Ready....Set....Go!
I was pretty excited about this thought until I went to use it. I went to plug in my recent listing and it's impossible to do, because it's a plot of land and not a home. Although you can enter "0" for bedrooms, it doesn work for bathrooms or square footage. Also you can't use decimals in the "lot" section, which I foresee causing a lot of trouble. Why? Let's say you have a 0.5 acre lot. When most agents put that in, they're going to wind up listing it as a 5 acre lot. That's dangerous territory. Of course, the agents could enter it in as square footage, but not every agent (and this comes from experience in the San Antonio MLS) knows that an acre is 43,560 square feet and therefore a 0.5 acre lot could be listed as 21,780 square feet. Of course, even if they did list it this way, there should be a standard (or a check box for acres vs. square feet).
Good idea, but not usable for me under these current conditions. I'll be looking for the announcement of v2.0.
Here's the link to edit mine...that's the best I can do: http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/149
Kerrie - PS Is there a way to delete a listing that is "pending?" I accidentally created one that's a complete blank.
I had to chuckle at the comment about only being able to upload 20 listings. Most of us would not be so lucky to have that concern.
If I had more than 20 listings I'd upload the ones that are priced well and have motivated sellers. You could use this as a feature in your listing presentation.
Also are you asking that members use this tool to post listings rather than post in the normal blog roll?
I hope so. Listings are really for consumers to see and since we have members from all over the U.S. and Canada, all your lovely listings aren't what I'm here to see.
I want to see some meaty blogs that will garner lots of comments from your fellow members.
So, excited!
Kerrie - PS Is there a way to delete a listing that is "pending?" I accidentally created one that's a complete blank.
I have two...
I will give it a try! Thanks!
Hi Kerrie,
Tried to post a listing and keeps telling me to enter a valid address, once I try to activate, is there some magic way that we have to format the address......
We are in Canada, and is the differences in zipcode/postal code have anything to do with this???
Hi Kerrie, Nice change. Looks like you guys are developing yet another plus for "Rainers and great info on the public side !
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/123
Kerrie, wonderful!!! I am going right now to put in a listing!
Great new feature, but I'm going to wait and see how the issues concerning Canadian addresses and land listings get resolved before I try to load mine. I'm sure these will be ironed out pronto...
Kerrie...
This is awesome ... I'm going to try it now!
Not impressed so far. I tried to upload a photo and it's too small. It's 500x350. That's plenty big enough for all my uses except AR.
I personally have 75 listings. Yes, that's me. Alone.
30 days is too short. I understand STALE but 30 days is not long enough.
Sorry to pop your bubble but as I've been saying for years, Localism is flawed in my area and I just don't have the time to list all the errors in there. They have tiny neighborhoods (10 homes) listed as a separate town, townships wrong, etc.
Cool... thanks a billion!
Kerrie - This new feature is awesome. Here's mine
http://activerain.com/listings/CT/New%20Haven%20County/New%20Haven/06512/120-hyde-st
Off to resize and add the rest of my photos!!!!
I'm trying to add a listing. All fields are filled in, three photos were uploaded. I click Save Listing and nothing happens. I go the 'dashboard' where it shows a pending listing, click Activate and it says I must fill in all of the information. I again fill in all fields, click Save Listing, and nothing happens. It is an endless loop of frustration. Am I missing a step somewhere? Who do we call with questions?
So excited, will do it today!
Strike another on up for Active Rain. This is a great added value to ActiveRain
You still have the ability to blog about your listings in addition to this new feature. However, it is intended to take the place of such blogs.
ActiveRain made the move to consumer facing when the site was born. We have over 2 million consumer visitors monthly.
All members of ActiveRain have the ability to use the new Listings feature. The bonus of being a RainMaker is your Listings will show on the right hand side of your blog roll.
If you do not pick a community the Listing will not display.
There is not a way to delete a Listing that is pending at this time. For now, please refrain from clicking "Activate".
As always, we continue to listen to our community's comments and concerns to enhance this new release. Please, if you have comments or concerns leave them here on the post and our team will thoroughly review them. We've always relied on our community for feedback and this time will be no different. Thanks everyone!
I am having the same trouble as John.
Great feature. Off to test it out. Hopefully John and Lisa's issues are resolved.
So, is it better to have the AR listigns on the sidebar or vlfyer? Or both?
Pretty cool. Well written directions too. I tend to be challenged in that department!
Having problems uploading. I click SAVE and nothing happens.
Hi Kerrie, Thanks for the extra points!!!!! And for the great new feature!
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/234
Very cool! One problemo. Some of our MLS will not allow square footage due to the liability it poses to the homeowners and the agents. On this new listing feature you have to put a sq. ft value. I had to put a 1 in that box. It should be the listing will post even without a sq. footage figure :)
I am getting the same error as #60 and I've tried 3 browsers to use.
I am going to wait till you work th bugs out in this before spending any more time on it.
Can I put rental listings as well as sales? We rarely have more than a dozen rental vacanies, and a few sales, so it would be within the #.
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/183 I hope I made the top 10!
I love the way our picture and email agent is on the page. Thanks!
Kerrie, I think I loaded it correctly but the " SAVE " button does nothing.
Here's my listing:
http://activerain.com/listings/NV/Clark%20County/Henderson/89052/489-first-light-st
I couldn't get the Save Listing button to work in either IE8 or Google Chrome. Had to use Firefox to finally get the listing activated.
Irene (#62), Steve (#78), Tracy (#82),
Link did not work when I just tried it.
Here is mine
http://activerain.com/listings/FL/Indian%20River%20County/Vero%20Beach/32967/1672-victoria-cir
Won't work for me either. Using Safari, when I click 'Save' nothing happens.
Went back in through Firefox and it says pending, but I got the link
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/255
We are looking into an issue that could prevent Listings from saving. Trying Firefox may help. Stay tuned :)
Let us know when you get it fixed, before it gets rolled out and ask for input on the set up, fields. Remember not all LOT fields mean a fraction of an acre. The rural brokers need different ones than a home home home, condo city lister. We have 59 multiple acre properties of just land, on lakes, rivers, farms, woodlots. Where do those go? Instead of bath room count features like "5280" on "water" and "10,000" on "Road Frntge" If not land, why have rural brokers represented in AR fraternity in rural states like Maine? Will the field allow video link with html or just note pad for copy, no html? Please tell me the blog posts with our images, copy, links, embedded video are being "phased out". Why?
Heads up to everyone who is posting the link to your listings....don't copy the link when you're in the edit mode.
Because you're signed in to your own account when editing the links that are being posted are not working. DO NOT POST a link like this http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/14
Instead go to the sidebar of your blog and click on your listing and then copy and paste that link here:
http://activerain.com/listings/CT/New%20Haven%20County/New%20Haven/06512/120-hyde-st
Thank you Mel & Gretchen, The link put me into the edit screen I will try again.
Here it is, under the listings widget on the side: http://activerain.com/blogs/baklaich
I went in through my blog page and the widget and got this link (instead of the edit link #78):
http://activerain.com/listings/MN/Benton%20County/Sauk%20Rapids/56379/1860-eastern-star-loop-eastern-star
Hi, I tried several times, but it keeps saying I'm not providing a valid address. It's always been the same address. lol
Extra points are nice, but can't get it to work yet. I'm using Explorer...
The term "pending" could be confusing for consumers. Will they be able to view listings that are not active?
So I noticed that the Listings feature will not accept Land. That's very disappointing. Will you be updating your Listings application to accommodate listings that do not have beds/baths, etc? Thank you.
Kerrie - I just tried a regular house listing and the Listings feature is not saving the address. Help!
Here's ours:
http://activerain.com/listings/CT/New%20Haven%20County/Wallingford/06492/6-broadmeadow-rd-fieldstone-farm
Wow! How easy. Great addition.
This would be great if we could automatically syndicate from our MLS, vFlyer, Trulia, or the like. Any chance that will happen in the future? Also, how easily will consumers be able to find this information? Is it search engine optimized?
Thanks! The Harrisonburg Homes Team
So will this take the place of my outside MLS widget? Sounds nice, so I'll give it a go.
I'm so good I've answered my own questions by looking at Pat & Wayne's sidebar.
I have one listing that won't load because the system says it is not a valid address. it is.
This looks like it's going to be a very cool new feature. I really like that they auto-expire to keep old stiuff out.
I will have to play with this more. Sounds like a great feature to have, especially for the side bar.
http://activerain.com/listings/PA/Schuylkill%20County/Pine%20Grove/17963/201-farm-view-rd
I got it done but you have a mapping glitch. I typed in correct address and system shows a DIFFERENT address. Your mapping is off.
I LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU FOR ADDING THIS FEATURE!!
Great New Feature!! Here is my link to my first input.....
http://activerain.com/listings/FL/Alachua%20County/Gainesville/32608/4955-sw-91st-dr
Very cool, a new feature to try out....
This seems really cool! I'm going to try it!
Awesome - that is really cool, and I will get busy right away and add my listings! Thanks AR for your continued evolution!
Awesome - that is really cool, and I will get busy right away and add my listings! Thanks AR for your continued evolution!
It's very easy to load the pictures and fill in the blanks, however it won't activate. It keeps saying that the address is not valid... it's an established address.
Is Firefox the only browser that it works with?
It's still a work in progress:
http://activerain.com/listings/NY/Suffolk%20County/Lindenhurst/11757/602-narragansett-villas-dr--lindenhurst
It's still a work in progress:
55 & Over Condo
This sounds great....will they be syndicated out from there?
http://activerain.com/listings/CA/Riverside%20County/Indio/92203/41339-endicott-ct
Kerrie, I was 4th above putting in a listing , I didnt know you had to activate under foxfire ( Thanks Donna #91) : here it is
http://activerain.com/listings/TX/Collin%20County/Lavon/75166/894-crockett-dr
I went to Foxfire and my listing finally saved but when I click on activate it tells me I do not have a valid address. I will keep watching to find the solution.
Thanks for all the hard work. I think this will be great when all the bugs are worked out.
LOVE IT! Can't wait to get all my listings in there!!!
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/328 Here's my first one!
Kerrie, now that's pretty cool! I'll add one tomorrow - a little tiny adorable house out in the burbs.
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/346 Listing #2, this is cool!
Huge issue, Kerrie. Listing system is zip code driven, which does NOT correspond to the current set up for places and communities that now exists. Don't get me wrong - I love it but see the need to clean up/coordinate the existing geographics...
Give me a ring if you want me to provide specific examples and suggestions.
Kerrie - Still wondering about the square footage input issue disclaimer as well... Oh and I used Firefox...lol
I'm kinda guessing on this one but here tis:
79 MacArthur Avenue Closter NJ
Just tried it out. It works awesome. I just used the photos I had before I edit them.
Just a tip, though mine still doesn't have a valid address :)
Copy the link from the sidebar instead of the Edit page...
This is really cool!
Here are my two with extra photos:
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/368
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/357
Don't know if you already got your first 10 yet!!!
This is great. Thanks for adding this feature Active Rain.
It's official...I'll never get any sleep now. Lol...Sleep is under rated anyway! Looking forward to the new feature. You rock Kerrie!!!
Very nice. Now this is entirely separate from a blog post, right? It's not like a Postlets think that we insert into a blog post, is it?
I think I will pass for the time being until some of the bugs/kinks gets worked out...
AR has outdone themselves again! What a great feature!!! I will check it out and add mine tonight. Always improving the community ~ thank you!!
Have tried it a couple of different times but it keeps saying my photos are not large enough. So no extra points for me today. I'm going to have to play with my photos to see if I can make them bigger w/o distorting them to make it work.
Seems like a good idea, another place to showcase our listings. However, you've just created more work for us:)
From the comments, it looks like something that was put out waaaay before it was ready to be released. Nice concept, but I think I wait a bit for the bugs to be worked out before jumping onto the bandwagon.
Just another way to bring great exposure to our listings - love it! Here are 2 of our listings:
http://activerain.com/listings/PA/Philadelphia%20County/Philadelphia/19123/1016-n-3rd-st-northern-liberties
http://activerain.com/listings/PA/Philadelphia%20County/Philadelphia/19125/2541-emerald-st-fishtown
More being added shortly...
Another great tool that can show clients that you are doing everything possible to expose and market their listings afterall, isn't that why they hired you? Love it and now so do all my clients :) ~Anne Marie
Thanks for all the updates, comments and concerns. We are working on fixing all the little bugs. We appreciate your patience and by the way....YOU GUYS ROCK!
Thanks! I didn't see where I could add other photos... Also - Don't you think there should be a place for a MLS number?
Wow I missed this one - thanks to Irene I learned all about it. Super Duper!
invalid address nag is a pita
why isthere a checksum for that? no way that ar knows all of the new addresses in Texas... we are growing
*my graphic said: shadblow..... wth?*
Kerrie.... talk to us about this address verification.
maybe we should remove it.... a lot of listings in Texas aren't even on the map yet.
Is this because of Market Leader ?
Great idea ... Is it mentioned how to get front photo to that size? That is much bigger than my other marketing sites.
Update: We have resolved the issue that prevented certain users from saving Listings in Safari and Google Chrome.
@Wendy - I used picnik.com to resize mine for the listings I've added. Still have a few more to do.
Actually, Kerrie - the front photo requirement is really huge - IMHO - too huge.
I've been trying to do this but it keeps telling me the address is not valid.
The "lot" box seems to only accomodate a number..square footage maybe? It would be nice to be able to enter "3.9 acres".
For some reason, clicking on "Save Listing" isn't working.
This is fantastic, just put one in and took about 2 minutes! Love it, thanks
Here are mine:
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/362 (it's a vacant lot, so I made up the # bedrooms etc since it wouldn't take 0)
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/355
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/352
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/327
http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/325
Thanks for a great new feature which I will be trying out later today.
I love this new feature. Thank you.
Hi Kerrie - This appears that it will be a great feature once a few issues are worked out including those that others noted above as well as:
- in my area, people either don't enter square footage or enter a range
- the sellers have the option NOT to display their address on the internet, thus, we would only display the area of the city (it seems that you require a full address which conflicts with those who want their listing on the internet but not the exact address)
- ability to display Canadian listings (I'm not sure if this is an issue re: postal codes vs. zip codes)
- I am not clear what "year" means for one of the fields.
Kerrie,
Cool, can't wait to get started. Will this work for leases as well, or just sales?
Will be uploading shortly.
Thanks, Michelle
Work got in the way of me uploading any listings today. So I totally missed out on the point grab you were offering. But tomorrow, as I enjoy a no shave, work from home day, I will be adding listings like crazy!
Thank you guys. This is a great new feature. You're the best!
Kerrie - I was just getting used to using the postlets format. I will do this tomorrow. It looks good and sounds like a lot of the clan love it.
Kerrie - Other than this blog, where are we to access the link? Is it embedded somewhere?
Well my pretty one, some thing new. Now I'll have to get crackin and get them loaded. Maybe Zillow will monitor and use the info asw ell.
Kerrie, I'm so sad. The nice new feature won't take Canadian addresses and postal codes. :-(
Kerrie - I was about to say well done but it seems Larry has found an issue for us here in Canada ..... hopefully there is a fix in the works
Hi Kerrie~ I am excited to hear this. I will check it out when I get a chance!
HELP! I cannot get it to recognize the street address of a 3 year old home. I've tried with commas, without and every way I can think of. Any suggestions? And BTW thrilled with this new feature! :) Except for the photo box, my photos are large enough but the format seems way to landscape oriented. I cannot resize to fit the whole house on most of these without a huge distortion.
Kerrie... cool.. hey, I know this is a real estate networking site... but what about us mortgage people??? ;o)
Kerrie, Boy, I missed alot today. Excellent addition to our resources.
This is what I call quality "rain"! You guys rock.
Kerrie You really need to work on the mapping problem
1/ I have listings that won't load because of invalid address. Their addresses are NOT invalid.
2. I uploaded 1 listing and the address I typed in is showing up with a NEW and WRONG address. Why? If I type in an address why is the system changing it?
Nice Nice Nice Nice !!!!
... Lots to do for sure !
GREAT ADDITION to our available features Kerrie !
Cheers !
AWESOME feature! Thanks thanks thanks AR!
Thanks for the info and the link.
Kerrie: I think this is an awesome addition to Active Rain's myriad choices! I will add my listing info tomorrow. Thanks for the head's up. ;-)
I am just discovering this new feature and think I am way too tired to take advantage of this great new tool tonight. Tomorrow! And, thanks again for continuing to improve AR for all of us.
Great MOOOOOVE....isn't that why we are all here ? Keep it moving AR !
Great idea! Tried to upload my first image and was told it's NOT BIG ENOUGH. Problem: In many cases I don't have a larger size as they are automatically resized for my website. Noticed that many others are having a sizing issue. Perhaps AR could reduce the size to a more standard listing and help us avoid all the extra work or inability to post.
I'll look back for the latest bug fixes and then try again.
That is awesome. Can't wait to use it! Thanks,
Great, Thanks AR! Having trouble uploading picture. Blue button does not seem to be active.
I love this feature on ActiveRain, even if I do not have a lot of listings. I wrote a blog post about it because it would have been a really, really long comment.
What do you think of the new listings? ActiveRain
I love it. It is going to make community pages in Central Ohio a bigger mess.
Another great feature that I will try out...if I get the time! Thanks for all your hard work!
I just found this on Judi Barrett's post....and I like this and will be posting my listings. ThANKS!
You mention that the feature will work with Internet Explorer 8... Will it work with Internet Explorer 7???
Fantastic, Kerrie. It's about time I subscribed to this blog.
We believe in giving credit where credit is due - and in this case Active Rain deserves a huge round of applause in our opinion. It will be very interesting to see the lead traffic that results from this latest enhancement!
Kerrie...
As I am a Member Only gal, and do not post listings, I'm trying to figure out how to earn bonus points. Baby, I'm drawing a blank :)
TLW...ROAR!
I just tried it out and I do NOT like the Height and Width of the photo displayed. It "chops" off too much of the picture...even after doing the "trim" AND "crop", it does NOT DISPLAY CORRECTLY.
I should have said in my previous post that there is a PROBLEM with the HEIGHT of the photographs because I take alot of verticals and they do NOT DISPLAY correctly. Please fix this glitch.
This is fantastic, and will certainly make our jobs easier. Thanks ActiveRain! I'll be using this starting this weekend!
I'm looking forward to seeing stats from AR about how much traffic these receive. Good enhancement AR!!!
sweet! sounds great!
This is great news....I'm with some of the others....now just have to find the time to upload our listings! Thanks ActiveRain!
So by default there are no points assigned for adding listings? Seems to me that it should provide some points. Here's mine: http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/806
Already uploaded one and it went well. Thanks for the feature, this will help get the word out even more.
I hvae always had problems with uploading my listings & couldn't understand why? I think this will work out great for me.
This is great news! Will we have the ability to post rentals with the same form?
This is awesome. Thanks so much ActiveRain; my sellers are going to be thrilled!
Works great but one more suggestion - in addition to adjusting the image size is there anyway to do a bulk picture upload for each listing instead of each of 20 photos one by one?
Thanks so much,
These are suggestions based on comments I've read and how I know it will affect my own listings. Because of the multiple MLS's with different rules and requirements, you need to have some fields more optional or allow different entries (such as lot sizes and square footage). And if a specific community, or subdivision, is a requirement, then I won't be able to use it at all.

Mine will not activate... Tells me the street address is not right... please advise.
I'm using firefox.
Love it, however, I too am having a problem with several listings I have already entered that it does not recognize the address. One is new construction and the others are a few years old. Is there some way to force the address through??
We noticed that the uploader tool asks for a State and Zip. Can we upload Canadian listings or is this for listings within the US only?
I can't wait to try it. It sound so much easier than Postlets, Point2Agent, and other sites I used to advertise my listings.
Thanks,
John
Having problem with one of our listings.
Have all the correct info, but it's saying "must provide valid street #", which I did...it's in S. Setauket (also tried South Setauket)?????????
This is very cool. Thanks for the info.
I guess all of you understand why this is a great new feature but ... if you're not a realtor, we're clueless.
Hi Kerrie,
I missed this post this morning, but had found the link on the main page of AR when I logged on..
Thought I had discovered something :) So I played with it, uploaded a listing, and blogged about the new link to add listings on AR.. :)
The listing I put on would only let me upload 1 photo. It would stall out whenever I tried to upload a second photo. I let it sit there and spin for about 30 minutes while I did some other things.. came back and it was still trying to upload the second photo, so stopped it.

http://activerain.com/action/listings/edit/1013
For some reason I also have two that are blank and I haven't figured out how to delete them...
Thanks!
Judi
Went back and tried to upload the second photo to the first listing with no luck. It just stalls out with no error message...
The second listing that I input, finally got it to activate. Some roads have had recent name changes. It really doesn't matter what the address is but have to use the road name that is on a Google map.
The square footage field should not be a required field for those of us that don't want to take on that liability.
Forgot to say
Thank You!
This is going to be GREAT!
Here's my Canadian listing in Port Coquitlam, BC; no problem: http://activerain.com/listings/BC/Greater%20Vancouver/Port%20Coquitlam/V3C/2439-wilson-ave-central-port-coquitlam
Thanks for your help Kerrie and AR.
I went to the Http address you advise in the post...and it brought me back to this "BloG"...I'll have to go back and research. The funny thing is when you Google the Address.com you supply to get to the listing system you get this blog...activerain get place to high for it's own good.
OK this is cool and a big deal. I can hardly wait to get stuff posted.
I have more than 20 listings, but having read through all the comments I now know which ones might have a chance of uploading correctly, so those are the ones I will use. Each little bit is worth a try to see whether it produces results for my sellers.
Mahalo!
Keep adding tools and resources. It is another sunny day here in Boise, Idaho but I must say I love the (Active) Rain.
Another new tool for the AR community. No wonder we keep growing!
Great news! One more reason to keep my Rainmaker status!
Just so you know, there seems to be an issue with GoogleChrome. For some reason, it is not reading the price field properly, so it will not let you click the "save listing" button. Just figured I'd give a head's up, because I'm not sure if it has been noted yet. Great addition, team ActiveRain!
Here is a question. I am a mortgage broker. Can I post a listing for one of my Realtor Referral Partners?
Bob.
That is my intention.... with lead capture widgets too!!
Uploaded 3 listings yesterday and I had no problem with the process itself. I had to resize the pics using picnik which I thought was a pain and I left the square foot field blank because nothing I entered displayed correctly. Still, I think it's a great feature.
Just another reason to sign up!
Correction to my comment above. It was the lot size that I had to leave blank, not sqft.
All I can say is: S-W-E-E-T!
Dear Kerrie,
Some homes show up ok, others not. Will have to try it myself to see how it works.
Kerrie, I think I know what I will be doing this workend...uploading listings!
Thanks to the reblogs for alerting me to the new feature!
Margaret
Great feature, Can't wait to try it. Margaret C.
Just noticed that we had this today. Guess I should go put in a couple and see what it looks like. Thanks ActiveRain.
It does not allow me to upload photos (IE 8.0). Everything else is OK.
This is AWESOME ... thanks for the addition to the RAIN><<<<<
From the comments, it sounds like the system is not ready for prime time and is somewhat of a pain. Is there no way to syndicate from the MLS rather than making us input listings manually?
It is quite easy, great idea
Ty
This is a great feature; however, judging from some of the comments, there still are a few glitches. I'm having a problem with the size of my pictures.
anyone seeing it in SERPs yet???? I saw mine by Googling for the address.
Trying my first - IE 8 - will not save. Help!
I thought our industry has gone beyond manually inputting listings into a 3rd party site. Have you heard of ListHub? Can't you just get a feed from them and save all of us this trouble?
We have some listings without MLS numbers is that a problem..also what about land/lots listing...I put one of my land listings in but will not activate...HELP!
Trying but can't get it to activiate. HELP!!
Wow, can't wait to try, another innovation thanks AR. something else to put on my to do list for listings.
Just checking in and letting you all know we are hard at work fixing the problems that have occurred. I truly appreciate your patience and love the fact that you are all excited to use this new tool. Thanks for sitting tight!
Kerrie -
The listings within a Community Page need to be ordered in some manner, say descending by price.
Is AR going to be syndicating these listings? If so, to what sites?
This will be excellent when improved.
I assume you are trying some vertical integration here....i.e. taking syndication of listings posted on AR out of the hands of the Postlets and RainBirds of the world.
I am confident the addition of "homes for sale" will enhance the SEO of the community pages - which in my area are already beginning to show (sporadically) on page one of Google.
Thanks Kerrie! I wish I would have read this earlier! I must go try to post listings now. Is there a way to automate the input from our MLS?
My listing is 13227 Sturbridge Road, Lake Ridge VA 22192
Thanks for the new feature. How do we get the listings on our outside blog?
I think this is a nice feature, but.
I notice that the more we do on the internet, the more TIME it takes us. More internet sites for listings etc. just means more work for us!!!!
When there were one or two sites, I liked it much better.
I have a lot of listings and I spend many hours on the internet just trying to get the exposure for them.
Sometimes less is MORE.
Well my dear, I finally got the listings to load. At first the system didn't like my version of Internet Explorer. It finally loaded with Firefox, and I got the first of my lsitings loaded,.
Here are a couple:

If not for the problems I'm sure I would have been one of your point winners. Damn
Thanks ActiveRain! This is yet another awesome part of being an ActiveRain Member, and I cannot wait to start using this!
Great feature. I appreciate all the efforts.
Make sure to check out the Listings Update and Listings Update Part Deux. We are striving to make this the best tool it can be!
As an interim measure, we've adjusted the way listings are displayed on hyper-local pages. Listings are now displayed in the left column and are only visible to consumers (non-logged in users).
Great feature -- now I just need to figure out how to make it work -- how to get my photo to show up on the listing page and how to get traffic to it. Thanks!
http://activerain.com/listings/OH/Franklin%20County/Worthington/43085/7622-exploration-dr
Great! Thanks to all the AR staff!
Speaking of pictures, I saw the coolest thing on the Today show this morning. Agents are taking pictures of their listings on the outside with all the lights on in the daytime....it really stands out!
Nice feature and my first few listings I entered worked fine.... But we have one that just will not "activate." It always says "pending" no matter how many times I hit activate. Anyone else have this problem?
HOW did I miss this? I saw the III update and had to back track. Thanks! I am going to go take a look and see what's going on...
I love this feature which makes me look really good. I do agree the 960 x 440 is incredibly non-standard. There are plenty of broken gifs in the neighbourhood sections, such as https://activerain.com/states/AB/cities/Calgary/communities/Huntington%20Hills I love the way the pictures scroll. Thank you activerain!
I can't believe that it took me this long to catch up on this new feature. Well I now know what I will be doing over the holidays. Thanks ActiveRain!
My listings aren't working right.
The lots can't be posted at all, and the houses won't show the pictures for me to edit them.
Is there a glich, or am I doing something wrong?
At this time the listing tool is only for homes for sale and won't take lots. You must edit your picture before you upload them. Make sure they are 960x440 exactly. www.picnik.com is a great tool to use to accomplish this.
I'm sorry about the confusion. By "editing" I meant changing their order around.
If you would allow it to accept 0 bedrooms and 0 bathrooms the lot listings should work fine.
Hi Kerrie,
I'm not sure if you're monitoring this post any longer, but I've looked at the new LISTINGS feature and wonder how it can be SEO'd properly. From what I see, I think we'd actually get more readability by creating a blog post, instead. Your thoughts?
Going to put in my top 20 listings in Northwest Arkansas NOW! YEAH!!! Love new things. (I am a little behind, but hey I live in Arkansas... ;)

Hello Kerrie, Left an email message for AR a few days ago with no response so will try again by leaving a message here- for some reason we are unable to edit or remove the last 2 listings that are blank (no photos or info on them?) on our listings edit page - could you please look into this and delete these 2 blank ones at the end as we have new listings to add and are up to the 20 limit - if you can remove the last 2 blank ones, we can add 2 more - thanks!!
Kerrie, Thank you for the tips and this update. I hope it gives us national exposure to people moving to Atlanta.
Does anyone know why my listings never go past "pending" and nobody has ever seen them (so I assume they're not active) They also show reactivate so they were activated. I'm just a bit confused as to whether listing on here does anything?
Use contact ActiveRain Keith! They straighten you out.
Looks like sometimes it is good to be late to the game! I just loaded a Canadian listing :) What a great tool!!
