My morning today at AR Headquarters began with a Starbuck's Tall 'Shot-in-the-Dark' and a apple fritter. As usual, Claire was already at her desk. I powered up my Mac, and started to shovel my way out from under the normal avalanche of emails. 'TechCrunch's Latest' was at the top of the stack, so I clicked through, and discovered the first article, "Watching the Inauguration with All My Facebook Friends."

I quickly accessed the provided link, and was immediately ushered into a LIVE feed from the Mall, along with a corresponding real-time Facebook Chat function. Suddenly, I'm engaged in running commentary on the inauguration as events unfold.
This is the true power of the New Media - empowering and enlightening through greater connectivity and interaction!

Very cool stuff, huh? The actual inauguration was taking place during our radio show - talk about competition!
Between Twitter, the tube and the feeds, you didn't have to miss anything you didn't want to re the inauguration.
I tried this, but it wouldn't connect, so I went to MSNBC and watched.
It is the gift of the internet that it erased geography, and time (along with gender and age and race)...it's just intellect to intellect, and this kind of connectivity is a superb example.
I'm such a neophyte, I watched on my TV set....... :-(
Just in the event that anyone hasn't done their Reader's Digest Word Power for this month:
A neophyte is a beginner. In the context of Christianity, the term often refers to a newly ordained priest, a person who recently took a monastic vow, or a new convert to the religion.
In the Catholic and Orthodox Churches an adult convert is considered a neophyte for one year after conversion. Roman Catholic neophytes are considered full members of the Church, but may not act as sponsors for others planning to join.
In ecology, a neophyte is a plant species recently introduced to an area (in contrast to an archaeophyte, a long-established introduced species).
In fraternities, it is a person who is pledging to join the secret organization.
Neophyte may also refer to:
I was mostly inauguration free today. I had other stuff to do, and didn't have the news on in the background. The 10 month old didn't want a nap... and he really needed it.
I made a comment a year or two ago that this is what TV should be like. Could you imagine watching the Super Bowl on a big-screen with the same chat and camera angle functionality?
Interesting twist on how to watch it. What was the commentary when he flubbed the acceptance speech. I'm curious to the opinion of people who saw it.
Do you mean the Oath of Office (re: "flubbed the acceptance speech")? If so, apparently that flub belongs to Chief Justice Roberts since he was feeding the lines to the President to repeat. Later, one of the news commentators commented that Chief Justice Roberts apologized for flubbing his lines to President Obama (and unfortunately, President Obama repeated the Chief Justice's flubb). Really, it's so minor - what really came through in that incident is Obama's patience and graciousness in pausing to allow the Chief Justice to catch himself.
What I really like is the calm disposition, non-partisan attitude and non-recriminatory, practical approach of our 44th president. I like that he is asking us to be of service and to join together to be part of the solution, rather than just waiting for the government. Let's face it, this situation is going to take all of us getting involved - we've got a lot of work to do. I know I'm not alone in believing in the resilience and resourcefulness of us, the American people!
I also found the ceremony and the reactions to it of the people gathered there and at home very moving. I really liked the benediction by Rev. Lawery, the older minister - he presented a good recap of history and a very humorous part at the end. (yea for humor!)
Meanwhile, let's help each other sell some real estate and get the truth out about each of our corners of the market, that all real estate is local, local, local, as in location, location, location. Good luck to us all.
So which neophyte is Bob Stewart? I didn't realize there were so many definitions. Myself, I watched on my big screen tv!
i wish I had know that i could follow on Facebook. I was near the Washington monument and could see the Jumbo-tron and followed it that way. We also had a radio on an NPR local station and got some color commentary.
This was historical in many ways, and I don't know that we really understand what's happening here.
I was there with two of my three children Deidre and Christopher and five of my nine grandchildren, even though we were not together we were all there and had a shared experience.
