It's been a long, long week, for me especially, as the Japanese clog dancers who live over the top of me have been having drunken parties all week and literally kept me up all night long three nights in a row. I have had absolutely zero extra energy this week to deal with the little annoyances that my job involves.
That said, I still think I got off easy this week in comparison to some! Half of the office is sick - Jeff most noticably. The poor guy had to get antibiotics and the whole gamut of doctor's visits to boot. I had strep last week, the boys came back from NYC sick, and over the last few days, I've heard a myriad of complaints from others: "My throat is scratchy" or "Man, I have no energy".
On top of it, our phones are still screwy because I'm still dealing with a bunch of Brits who have their big noses stuffed up their own tight rears. Honestly, what company on the internet today does not take credit cards over the web? Why does setting up VOIP have to be so EFFING difficult? So yes, you have my sincere apology about our lack of phone service, folks; where I can't bear the full brunt of the blame, I'm probably the only person here who actually deserves to be even lightly smacked for it.
Ah, another day, another fence to scale. Do I sound like a complainer? Lol. I admit I'm a little crabbier than I normally am, and yes, probably even a little diva when it comes to the woes of my position, but I promise, it's mostly for show. I'm just as sweet and happy as ever; the nice thing about the AR staff is that we all really do pull together when someone's down or when there's problems on the rise. Jorgen was up with me the night before last just trying to make me laugh when I was so frustrated about not sleeping, for instance. We have a great bunch here.
I just HATE feeling like I'm spinning my wheels on something that should be utter cake! Grr. Arg. That, and, between the Escalade that parked three inches from my bumper and blocked me in this morning and a distinct lack of caffeine, I, for one, am fully glad that Seattle's division of Mother Nature has decided to shine down on us today. (I went out and just stood in the sunshine for a few minutes. It's freaking cold, but so nice.)
Beyond that...I'm hearing some veeeeeeery interesting rumors about what the guys are rolling out. I would take a picture of our ginormous whiteboard, but I'd probably get thumped for letting go of the BIG SECRETS. But. I think you'll love it. I hear ActiveBrad said something on his blog about widgets...mmmmm...crunchy widgets.
Question of the day: How do YOU overcome the wheel-spinning feelings? Any tips for this little redhead?

Brits, Japs and diva's...hmmmm, looks like a nice martini this afternoon would help the wheel stop (or start) spinning!
TL
Make a list and rip it in half. If you get half of that done...celebrate. I don't want to sound Corny but here goes....take it easy....keep it simple....put one foot in front of the other and do the next right thing......be where your feet are.......profound aren't I????
Happy Friday!!
Lori
Claire~
It sounds like a good nights sleep will cure your condition. Actually, you sound very convincing and articulate as a complainer. I know that you are not one to complain without reason!
The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Claire - oh my... just sent Bob an email that the number on his profile is not working! Ooooops. H-A-T-E it for you! Been there, done that... You should try reading Alexander's Very Bad Horrible Day cute kids book. I'll be Bob has it!
Claire: Widgets you say..you can clear those up with antibiotics too, penicillin for the whole staff..takes care of scratch throats, sinus infections and yes widgets too.
Claire... it is Friday, How about walking away from the computer and finding a happy hour? all work and no play makes the little redhead a dull girl!
Tom - I don't know about a martini (Gin knocks me on my -rear-), but perhaps a drink is due. I do have a DATE tonight (yes, another one), but we are going for coffee. Maybe I'll celebrate Friday by adding whipped cream or something.
Lori - That...is an excellent idea... Why didn't I think of that? I always get so overwhelmed when my list is EIGHTEEN MILES LONG.
Mott - I slept like a BABY last night, thankfully, but it was one of those weird wakeups where you sit up, blink, and go, "Man, it's morning already? Crap."
Eleanor - I've read that book! AW. I haven't thought about it in eons... Along with Matilda, Clifford, and a few other great, great young peoples' books. And LOL, yes, Bob knows ;)
Steve - You're right...an absolute tragedy, contracting the widgets. I'm wearing a medical mask as we speak.
Robert - Happy hour would be GREAT! But I'm going to coffee instead. I actually don't drink much... If there's any drinking to be had at RE Bar Camp Seattle, it's unlikely you'll see me with a glass in my hand ;) (CAUSE GUESS WHAT? I'm so going.)
Claire..if the anibiotics don't clear up the widgets I think there is also a special soap..for them :) Steve
I could call Jack Bauer for you. He's had some success in dispensing clog dancers!....
Came to check you out on the group Blog and look at you, front page headline news, top of the list, creme of the crop! :-))
It's true... I am hungry for widgets. lol
How does a glass of Chardonnay by the fireplace (with a fire in it of course) followed by a good night's sleep sound?
Hi Claire, we all can have off weeks. Just try to get ANYTHING done that will give you a checkmark on that to do list to feel good.
Claire,
Here is a suggested mantra courtesy of Tony and Darcy...
I can only please
one person per day.
Today is not
your day.
Tomorrow is not
looking good either.
Beware it's Claire! LOL, Later in the rain~Deb
I feel your pain. I just finally got refunded on a new e-fax number I signed up for in September/08. Every time I called their customer service they apologized for the delay, siad they forgot to set it up and it would be working within 24 hours. They told me the same story for 3 months before I fnally called my credit card company and just had the charges reversed. No fun at all and a total pain in the ass.
Claire ,
I feel your pain, Though it's now saturday and you probally won't get this post until monday. it really doen't matter what I suggest. I would say any future episodes of this and you should get on the computer and plan a getaway for that same weekend. 80 degree Palm Springs does wonders and gets anyone back on their feet by monday morning. Regroup to recoup. BTW are you keeping a journal of your dating experiences to publish at a later date? LOL.
Hi Claire ! ...nice humorous style you have, I like it, I write kind if similarly myself ...
With regards to spinning your wheels, I believe you have to feel some sort of accomplishment, even small ones. So if you get bogged down, I would take a deep breath, and take a moment to take one or two of the things on your to-do list that you can knock out in a short time.
....then at leat you can feel you have done something productive !
You guys are doing great things there in the A|R Compund ! ...and you are a big contributor so I hear !
...we appreciate your dedication :o)
Cheers !
Sheldon
So it's true! There really are hamsters at work at AR, and apparently they've all left their spots.
