ActiveBlogs - Link Love and SEO

Many AR members have been creating and setting up their outside ActiveBlogs on ActiveRain.  I've had the pleasure of helping some, but also know that there have been a ton of these created that I and others have missed.  Driving visitors and traffic to your new Blogs is essential in getting them Active and all over the search engines.  Here's a great chance and way to do that.

Please take a moment to visit these members Blogs, see what they've done, and drive them some SEO love.  It would be great if you could leave them a comment too.  I'm sure they will all do the same for you.

There's a wide variety of styles and Blog types from our various Industry Professionals, everything from REALTORS®, Stagers, Lenders etc.  I'd love to have some examples from every AR Category below.

[ Real Estate Agents ] [ Loan Officers ] [ Mortgage Companies ] [ Inspectors ] [ Appraisers ][ Title Companies ] [ Escrow Companies ] [ Real Estate Attorneys ] [ Real Estate Auctioneers ][ Virtual Assistants ] [ Home Stagers ] [ Real Estate - Others ] [ Account Execs ] [ Mortgage Processors ][ Real Estate Brokerages ] [ Builder-Contractors ] [ Real Estate Medias ] [ Real Estate Trainers ] [ Notaries ][ Commercial Real Estate Agents ] [ Environmental Services ] [ Commercial Lenders ] [ Business Brokers ][ Property Managers ] [ Real Estate Sales People ] [ Architectural Designs ] [ Financial Planners ][ Insurance Broker or Agents ]

Be sure to take a second and leave us a link to YOUR ActiveBlog in the comments so we can add you to this list.  There are probably 700 - 1000 of them out there right now, and soon there will be thousands more.  Let us know about yours, or add a link here when you get one setup, I'll try and help pay it forward.

We're also looking for some ActiveBlog examples to feature on our AR landing page.  This is for when other members are interested in finding out more about creating their ActiveBlogs and want to see what you have done with yours.  If you're interested in being on that page, again, just leave your link below.

Disclaimer: This post is exempt from the AR terms of service and community guidelines regarding spam or hijacking by leaving your links in the comments of another members Blog post.  I'm soliciting them.  :-)

I just commented and included  my link as you asked and got a message that my comment was identified as possible spam.  Wooooo hoooooo!  It's about time AR added that feature.  No more worrying about folks spamming our posts anymore.  Thank you!  Thank you!

Brad I visited all the blogs...they look great! I meant to mention to you the other day that I think it would be better if the drop downs under the categories were in alphabetical order and not by the number of posts. If you go look at mine you will see what I mean. It makes it a lot more difficult for a consumer to find what they are looking for. I think being alphabatized makes it much easier.

My blog is PR3 already:)

Brad,

Normally pretty good at setting up new sites I have been stumped by the outside blog setup. Perhaps I will give you a call just to clear up a couple of things.

Really I did start doing it. Just did not look like your instructions that I had read on a previous post. So I probably need to be talked through it while editing. I am not an idiot and am fairly quick study so wouldn't take more tha 2-4 minutes.

My outside blog is http://www.blogeauclaire.com/ I noticed that this page http://www.blogeauclaire.com/about seems to outrank the actual home page. Is there a canonical issue with the links here? I don't know that I need that page and I have a toolbar PR2 for both of those pages. I personally wouldnt mind condensing the PR.

Does that make any sense?

Hi Brad, here's mine http://janiec.activerain.com/

one thing I would love to see on outside blogs under the geotags is counties.   At least in mine it does not show counties and many of my posts cover a whole county.  If I put them in a city, they might not be read and if I leave them in a county, which works in Localism, they just get put in my overall state.  Not helpful for having readers find all of my content.  And one other thing, there needs to be a place to put interesting content that is not necesarily real estate related, but stil want to be in a category, right now ALL of the options are real estate related (ie selling, buying, mortgate, etc.) plenty of my posts are general but helpful and I would like a place, even an "everything else" for lack of a better word, heading in channels.

But great job guys, really looking great!

any reason we can't get it to show up? it is still there & saved in the Information section ( when we are in edit mode)but does not show up live?

Brad, can I assume you mean an Outside Blog created here on AR? I have done so, but without some of the pizazz that I guess requires an Upgrade? I do have other blogs that I have created with WordPress hosted by Network Solutions which hosts my domains. I use the services of a Virtual Assistant that I found here on AF to help me customize themes and install plugins, etc. Then all I have to do is Blog away.

Is AR moving to a hosting model that is intended to compete with companies like Network Solutions or even Word Press? I am struggling with the "where to blog" more than the "whether to blog". Each WordPress blog requires its own username and password; I would love a Blog host that would let me manage my different blog sites from one single dashboard. Is this where AR is going?

The "Welcome to the Club" picture of a blog looks a bit different.  Is there a link to that one as I like more pictures and options in the right column.  I have the free blog with my own domain and haven't upgraded yet because I have this question.  If I post the same content to the activerain regular blog and click on individual blog to include it there - wouldn't that bring the same "google juice" since they are duplicate posts or do I gain something additional by having the upgraded blog - when I post the same content on both.  I hope this is clear.

Brad - Here's my new blog (thanks for giving me the push to move towards it): www.sanantoniorealestaterockstar.com.  I'll probably change the theme soon as I just realized that there was slightly more customization available with the Legacy theme.  I may eventually change the domain name as well as it seems long to me.

Also - do you think you could convince the coders to make it so that "www." appears in the URL bar?  I know it seems insignificant (and is for the most part absolutely useless), but I like the look of the balance in a URL with www. in it.

Brad, reviewing some of the sites, I noticed that there were no widgets on the right side bar.  I'm assuming that you can still add widgets to the outside blog (oh, what would you do :-) ).  At least, there's no widget overload on them, yet.

I also noticed a "search for homes" button at the top right of all the blogs.  Could you explain how that's going to work for those of us still considering the outside blog?

On another matter, I noticed in the new format for comments that the rain drip covers the first letter or two of the person's name making the comment.  Makes it difficult to see who's posting sometimes, epecially with a short first name.

Is there a link to a posting that explains how setting up these outside blogs differs from the outside blog I already have (see http://mmegowan.activerain.com/ )? It looks to me the only difference is a unique URL address and the ability to categorize the posts. Do these new outside blogs cost money on a monthly basis, and what are the advantages over the current free outside blog?

www.JustRealEstateTalk.com

I would like more information on Blog Template designs. Mine needs more sprucing up. Too plain.
I would like to be able to add more widgets.

Bob Stewart was a geat help in getting me started with the new Outside Blog, but I need more assistance. It is difficult finding time to read all the different blog posts to figure out what I don't know and how to make the Blog more appealing when viewing it.

I have many posts ready to go, but I am spending too much time trying to learn/understand what I need to do to get a look I am pleased with for the Blog.

So far I'm loving my Active Blog!  My blog is about pertinent topics in property management and the rental market.   www.thrivingrentals.com  I haven't had many comments (although I'm starting to get some!), but I've had a good deal of hits.

When I google "luxury rental market", "Seattle rental market", and even "rental market trends", my blog comes up in the first five.  I don't know how many people actually research rental market trends (I might be the only geek who does!).  It might only be the media when it's time to do a piece on the topic-- which is fine because I would love to be the go-to authority for quotes and opinions on the topic.

I would love to know how I can use this blog to drive SEO for my company website though.  Can it be embedded or anything like that??

Posted by Eleanor Trainor (Ready-Set-List!) about 3 years ago

http://www.lauraslexingtonsc.com/Its ranking pretty well already. I agree I need some widgets and design options. I still need to do some more to it. But happy so far its doing well on SEO. Page 2 on most for keywords.

With Brad's help (and I really needed it!) I was able to set up my outside blog with little problem. I have moved most of my posts over to the outside blog now. Brad suggested that I resize my photos to create interest and  variety in my posts. I always thought that consistency in look or format was key but according to Brad, you have to shake up the look to keep people interested in your posts.

Here is my link

Great post! My outside blog www.walktombta.com will be focusing on real estate that is walking distance to the T (the subway system in Boston). I decided to make my blog about this becuase my customers constantly ask them to find listings that are walking distance to the T.
